New York Senate Approves PoW Mining Moratorium Law

Mining: The New York Senate has passed a bill that imposes a moratorium on proof-of-work mining operations.

Following discussions of the moratorium on crypto mining in New York, a bill was passed yesterday that imposes a moratorium on proof-of-work mining operations in the state. This means a two-year ban on all proof-of-work operations that run on carbon-based fuel.

As we reported earlier, pressure was being put in the state to slow the expansion of crypto mining. A bill proposing a three-year moratorium on more mining sites was rejected last June.
