Overwatch 2: Producer Comments on Plans for The Release of The Sequel

The Blizzard commented today (16) in the afternoon, during an event dedicated to the press, a little bit about his plans for the launch of Overwatch 2 the 2016 title sequence. The information is from Bloomberg.

According to the website, the producer plans to release the next game in two parts: the first, focused on the free-to-play competitive multiplayeris scheduled to arrive on October 4, 2023. The second stage, concerning the launch of a Story Modeshould arrive next year, but for now there is no exact date forecast.

THE adding a campaign mode should be very welcome, especially for the part of the public interested in the game’s history. “Over the years we’ve developed cinematics, animated shorts and comics for our players who want to delve deeper into the plot,” said Aaron Keller, Director of Overwatch 2.

According to Keller, with the addition of a “Player-versus-Environment” (PvE) mode, the company has the opportunity to delve much deeper into aspects related to the narrative of the saga, full of charismatic characters with a lot of story to tell. The site claims it is unclear whether the PvE mode will be free or sold separately as a kind of expansion. The online competitive mode should follow the same pattern as the original game, leading teams of players to face each other in PvP multiplayer arenas.

Another novelty announced by the producer was the fact that Overwatch 2 will not have the infamous loot boxesopting for a monetization format similar to that of Fortnitewith the sale of cosmetic items and Battle Passes.

Overwatch 2 is scheduled for release in October 2023 with versions for PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4 and Nintendo Switch.
